Editorial Responsibilities
Publication Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for determining which submissions meet the journal’s academic standards and merit publication. Decisions are based on scholarly quality, originality, and relevance to Islamic studies and thought. Editorial judgment follows the journal’s policies and applies legal standards related to libel, copyright, and plagiarism. Editors may consult associate editors or reviewers as needed.
Fair Evaluation
Manuscripts are assessed solely on academic merit, without discrimination based on gender, ethnicity, religion, political orientation, or the authors' institutional background.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose information regarding submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, or the publisher.
Conflict of Interest
Unpublished material from submitted manuscripts may not be used in the editor’s own research without written permission from the author.
Reviewer Responsibilities
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making publication decisions and helps authors improve their work through constructive feedback.
Promptness
Reviewers who cannot complete the review or feel unqualified should notify the editor and withdraw promptly.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts under review must be treated as confidential documents and not shared with others unless authorized by the editor.
Objectivity
Reviews must be conducted objectively, with clear and well-substantiated comments. Personal criticism is inappropriate.
Source Acknowledgement
Reviewers should identify uncited relevant work and notify the editor of potential overlap or similarity with other published materials.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers must decline manuscripts where conflicts of interest—financial, institutional, collaborative, or personal—may affect impartiality.
Author Responsibilities
Reporting Standards
Authors must present an accurate and objective account of their research, with sufficient detail for verification or replication. Fabricated or falsified data constitute unethical practices.
Originality and Plagiarism
Manuscripts must be original and properly acknowledge the work of others through accurate citation.
Multiple or Concurrent Submission
Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously is unethical and unacceptable.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Authors must acknowledge all sources that influenced the research and its arguments.
Authorship Criteria
Authorship is limited to individuals who made significant contributions to the conception, design, analysis, or interpretation of the study. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript and consent to its submission.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts that might affect the interpretation of their findings, including funding sources.
Correction of Errors
When authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly inform the editor and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions.
